In this day of rush, rush, rush we are often left with so little time for ourselves that taking the time to meditate seem like a luxury. The truth of the matter is meditating will give you more time by making your mind calmer and more focused. Even a simple ten or fifteen minute breathing meditation can help you to overcome your stress and find some inner peace and balance.
Meditation can also help us to understand ourselves and others. We can learn how to transform our thought processes and change attitudes from negative to positive, from disturbed to peaceful, from sad to happy. This is a wonderful and enlightening spiritual practice that you can not only use for specific purposes but that you can enjoy .
Meditation teaches us how to become aware of all that is truly important. It helps us to focus on now and not on what will happen tomorrow or the next day. So much time and energy is wasted in our lives waiting for what will happen next that we forget to enjoy the here and the now. Meditation helps us to look inward and keeps us focused on that, oh so important. here and now.
For this reason alone, meditation can used to focus on goals and even to acheive them with this same focus. Goals are seldom acheived with worrying about what comes next. They are acheived through living in the present and doing what we can "today."
Meditation can improve your athletic performance, your over all health, recovery from illness, or imrove your love life, and it even can increase your IQ! Meditation helps us to deal with feelings of anger, fear, worry, pain and emotional traumas from other individuals who have hurt us or may be hurting us now. This focus helps us to let go of these past hurts and focus on what is important now, thus, allowing us to see what is not working in our lives, letting go of those habits and moving forward into happier lives.
When we learn to meditate and take this time for ourselves, we learn to control our stress levels and truly relax our body mind and spirit. We learn to bring back the focus in our lives. This focus helps us to make correct decisions that lead to our own ultimate happiness.
When all of this is acheived we will ultimately feel less stressed, which makes us easier to get along with our family, friends and co-workers which makes life so much more pleasant. It allows us to find acceptance in our hearts for others and their differences with love and compassion. It gives us strength while showing us that we can use this strength withou pushing others away.
The best part about meditation is that it requires nothing on your part but the time it takes to do it. Time is fleeting as we all well know but you are worth that extra effort. Carving our 10 or 15 minutes a day for yourself will give you clarity and peace of mind like nothing else in this world will. And remember! Practice makes perfect!
